What if my freight is too big for a trailer?

If your freight is too oversized for a standard trailer, our warehouse and transport company offers a range of heavy-duty trailers to accommodate big loads. Our options include quad axles, low boys, and flatbeds. These trailers are designed specifically for handling larger and heavier cargo.

Our quad-axle trailers provide increased stability and weight distribution for exceptionally heavy loads. What is a freight forwarder?

A freight forwarder is a company or individual that facilitates the movement of goods from one location to another on behalf of importers and exporters. They serve as intermediaries between the various parties involved in international shipping, handling tasks such as documentation, customs clearance, transportation coordination, and cargo insurance.

Freight forwarders play a crucial role in managing global logistics, ensuring efficient and compliant transportation of goods while allowing businesses to focus on their core operations.

Who is the consignee?

The consignee is the person or company to whom goods will be delivered. The stakeholders in the transportation process are the consignee, consignor and carrier. The consignor dispatches shipments to the consignee via a delivery service provider, who is the carrier. Bulletproof Logistics can be considered the intermediate consignee during a project.

How much weight can a truckload hold?

The weight capacity of a truckload varies based on factors such as the type and size of the truck, as well as regional regulations. Light-duty vans typically carry 1,500 to 3,000 lbs, while medium-duty trucks handle loads of 10,000 to 26,000 lbs.

Heavy-duty trucks with special permits have higher capacities, often exceeding 75,000 lbs or more. It is important to consider legal weight limits and consult local authorities or professionals for accurate and up-to-date information regarding specific weight restrictions.

How tall can I stack my pallets?

The number of pallets that can be loaded onto a truck depends on various factors, and different loading methods utilize space differently. For most dry van transport trucks, two rows of standard-sized pallets can fit, with all pallets facing forward in the traditional packing method.

The width of the pallets determines whether one or two rows can fit side-by-side in a truck, typically with an 8-foot width. Pallets larger than 48 inches in length or width will fit in single rows.

The standard packing height is 48 inches, allowing for double-stacked pallets if the loads are stackable and not exceeding this height.

Open flatbed trucks can accommodate higher stacks, but it’s essential to consider the maximum legal height limit of 102 inches. The specific number of pallets that can fit depends on the truck size.

A 53-foot trailer can accommodate 13 standard pallets in a row, totaling 26 if double-stacked.

A 48-foot trailer can fit 12 or 24 pallets, depending on single or double stacking. Depending on stacking, a 24-foot box truck can hold 12 or 24 pallets, and a 16-foot box truck can carry 8 or 16 pallets.

Is it more expensive to ship via reefer trailers?

Shipping via reefer trailers incurs higher costs due to the increased expenses associated with the specialized equipment required to maintain cold temperatures. In contrast, non-refrigerated trailers do not need this costly equipment.

Handling refrigerated products during loading and unloading often involves specific procedures, contributing to overall expenses. While cold transport is primarily associated with food, beverages, and pharmaceuticals, it can apply to a wide range of products. These items often necessitate a narrow temperature range for optimal preservation.

Do I need to have an accurate weight for my shipment?

Shipping on a large scale requires understanding the differences between net and gross weight and complying with related regulations. Net weight refers to the product’s weight without packaging, while gross weight includes the product and its packaging.

It is crucial to distinguish between cargo weight and the weight of shipping containers or trucks. Calculating the gross weight involves considering the weight of the vehicle and the cargo. This understanding ensures accurate cost calculations, efficient operations, and compliance with legal requirements in large-scale shipping.
